If I Can't Walk [MOMLIFE]

My mom was diagnosed this week with a hereditary disease that has affected her feet in particular, causing her significant instability and the need for a walker. Since her diagnosis, the more I think about it and look back retrospectively, the more I'm convinced I have it.

If I do indeed carry the gene, it'll hopefully be a number of years away before my lifestyle will be affected, as the progression of the disease is slow.

With this on my mind and as I think about the future, I had this convo with Nui Nui tonight:

Me: Nui Nui?
Nui Nui: What, mama?
Me: Are you going to take care of me when I get old?
Nui Nui: Yes.
Me: What if I can't walk?
Nui Nui: Then l'll hold your hand.

My kid. Man, did I hit the jackpot! xo

Play-Doh Candy Apple! [MOMLIFE]

Kid: Mama, look! I made a candy apple!
Me: O, yeah! Cool!... How do you know what a candy apple is?
Kid: I just know. It's like a lollipop with an apple.

Yes. Yes it is :> xo

I'm A Big Girl?

Nui Nui must've hit some sort of 'A ha!' moment last week. Ever since Tuesday of last week, she's been accident-free, including one day at school. This weekend, when we went out, we put her in a diaper and even then, she did not think she could/should go in it— the diaper stayed dry all weekend. She even held her pee through naps!

I'm just so proud of her. I know she knows what is going on, it's just so amazing to see her apply her knowledge. Today, for example... I often practice giving her a series of requests, as I learned during a Back-To-School Night that, that's what her school is trying to teach them. Her teachers said the goal is for them to be able to do 2-3 actions when listed but her class is working on 4-5. Today, I asked her to say goodnight to Pau Pau, but first get down from the stool, put it away, turn off the light in the bathroom, and get her water. Granted, this is the routine, but to think just a mere two years ago she just barely entered into the world and could barely do anything...? :>

I hold these years near and dear to my heart. Time is fleeting so fast. It's sad yet I'm glad because it's indicative that I'm having the time of my life. To confirm, I am. :>

What makes time fly for you? :>

Share in the Comments below, we'd love to hear! :> xoxo
