M's Lookbook: Feeling Better In A Fluffy White Vest

Nui Nui was definitely feeling much better than yesterday— not feverish— though her throat was still hurting her at time. She took Tylenol at breakfast, lunch, and before she went to bed. She also took a really long nap in the afternoon. I'm guessing about 3 hours.

I gave her a bath in the morning and dressed her in some of her new clothes— she's seriously outgrowing her regulars (which isn't a surprise— they are 9-12 months.. admittedly :>) It's so funny the way kids clothes work. You think they are tiny to begin with but you end up using them past the sized age. You also think you don't like something at first but after seeing them in it so many times, you begin to love it. Kids have that magical power of making everything beautiful :>

M's First Battle With A Nasty Virus

M is amazing. By the end of her first day of taking cherry red liquid tylenol, she willingly opened her mouth and swallowed without resistance. What the heck?? (in a very very non-complaining way). I said it already but this girl is amazing. Grandma describes her as very mature and I couldn't agree more.

One of the hardest things about being a parent is watching your kid cry when they want you but you have to go. Another is watching your kid not feeling well. Despite M battling a nasty virus, she still managed to smile her beautiful teethy, squinty-eye smile— the kind of smile that lights the whole room up.

Today I took her up and down the escalator at Barnes. We went up and down for three rounds. She definitely wanted to take more rides but I had to pull her away as it was time to go. This wasn't the first time M has gone on an escalator— she's gone one time once before— but she's fascinated with it. And I'll have to admit, she's pretty darn good at getting on and off. Of us both, I was definitely more 'scared' than she was.

Rewind: M was not feeling well Thursday night. I had taken her out with me for dinner with friends. She didn't eat anything during dinner and even took a nap in my arms while we were there— not the norm. She didn't drink any milk and barely drank any when we got home. Needless to say, she did not sleep well that night. In fact, she was waking every 1-2 hours and slept in my bed with me. She was hot, feverish. I was worried. And very tired.

She kept tossing and turning and when she did wake up she was screaming her head off. Enough such that it got Grandma out of bed. At one point during the night she slept on top of me for one round. At another, I woke up and didn't see her. I was startled, thinking: where is she? did Grandma take her? As my eyes focused more, I found her sleeping sitting up, slightly reclined against the pillow I have upright against the wall. Despite my tiredness, I thought it was funny. How did she get up there? Was she comfortable? I mean, she must have been, else she would not have put herself there and fallen back asleep.

This intermittent sleep reminded me of the early breast-feeding nights and zombie days yet somehow I made it to work on time.

I decided to take Nui Nui to the doctor on Friday, concerned namely because she wasn't eating/drinking much. Turns out, Nui Nui has a pretty serious virus. I mean, the doctor said about 97% of the population has it but still. It looked bad to me. And the annoying thing about viruses are there's no medication for it other than pain relief meds. Aside from oral tylenol he suggested rectal tylenol and oral motrin.

We decided to get the rectal one just in case because Mom didn't have much luck with the liquid version. I'm glad we didn't need to resort to it. Something about it seems, well, violating.

I'm not happy she doesn't feel well but realize this is to be expected. There's a lifetime of sick episodes ahead... bah! I hate being sick!

Love my kid! To pieces!!

I make it a point to always have some visual but, to be honest, I wasn't up to taking pics today. She wasn't feeling it. I wasn't feeling it. I did, though, update my cell phone front and main screen with her beautiful face. Until I figure out how to download that for free (if possible), it'll be just text for now. Writing for memory.

Ear Muffs Never Looked Cuter!

I broke a record today. Woke up at 9:26am this morning— Nui Nui actually got me to— and got up and out the door in less than 20 minutes to make our 10am swim class only a couple minutes late :>

I was talking to a couple of people at work and it takes them 1 hour to do just their face. There is just not the time (or energy) to do such thing.

Swim was good and it was nice to see another 'school' momma and babe duo there. Makes school feel more homey :>

After that it was things pretty much as usual. I haven't had time, though, to think about videos so didn't film after lunch. We went out as usual a little earlier than.

Nui Nui, though, had some new developments. So unexpected and completely hilarious. Her language is getting just so good— how fast she learns. She identified Elmo *by name* when neither I nor my mom taught her. My mom suspects she learned who he is via a video but she identified him on an alphabet foam piece we have of him. Crazy!

Later, she was trying to feed my mom some of her snack and as she put her hand up to my mom's mouth, she said, 'Ummmmm mmmm'. Hilarious!

They're like sponges. Expose and do and say in front of them, and they shall copy.

In other developments, Nui Nui somehow knows and has started to hunch and smirk and look as devious as can be. She lifts her shoulders sometimes when she runs and ducks her head down like a bull. I remember sitting a 3-year-old who did the same thing. It's funny to see Nui Nui doing the same.

While in a store, my mom told Nui Nui to show me something. I turned around to see Nui Nui with a huge, wide-mouthed, teethy smile, knowing I'd love what I was about to see. Ear muffs never had something so good in between :>

We had a great day, full of smiles and laughing. Love my warriors! :> :>

OOTD Lace Dress By H&M

It didn't feel like fall last weekend. We went down to Palo Alto and hit some gorgeous weather. This is what I expect California weather to be like. We had lots of fun :>

Nui Nui and her excellent kid-dar even spotted another kid and waved hello. Very proud of her :>

This dress is by H&M and I love it. I love the cut— very flattering&mdash and I love how the sleeves are 3/4 length, which makes it perfect for fall. If that day had been cooler, I would've worn this with my burgandy fake leather jacket. [My leather jacket collection and this dress can also be seen in my I ♡ Fall TAG video :>]

On my lips, I'm wearing NARS' Honolulu Honey, which I found out about via Jenn from clothesencounters and which I also mention in the I ♡ Fall TAG video I mentioned above. I love the color and satin finish but don't own the lipstick myself— unfortunately, not within my budget. I guess that makes me on the hunt for its dupe :> Comment below if you know of one! :> Enjoy and, as always, thanks for watching!
