Daylight Savings And Kids?!

It's been a rough few weeks to say the least in terms of sleeping. Nui Nui just does not sleep well at night when she's sick— at least if it's with mucus disrupting her passageways, causing her to unavoidably wake up. Thankfully she's on the mend and finally well (or nearly). But, with all the nurturing (ie. several nights breathing heavily, holding hands, sleeping in my face) there is much ado. Nui Nui just refuses to go to sleep without me there. Hand Hand. Carry you carry you— she means 'me'. Don't go don't go. Come come. These are her pleads as I try to leave the room.

Nui Nui sick/getting well and daylight savings happened to coincide this year and I'm wondering if it's the time change or attachment-dependency that has her crying at night. It's rough to hear your kid cry. My heart was beating hard and fast as I stood outside the room. On the other hand, I want her to learn to go to sleep independently. I still spend time with her but after 30-45 minutes, I have to draw the line somewhere. ...or do I? I don't know.

I imagine kids whose moms held them for hours until they're in a deep sleep and wonder if they grew up to be... confident and self-assured? Or timid and clingy. I then imagine those kids whose moms just put them down and walked away. How did they turn out? Confident and self-assured? Or timid and clingy? And then what happened to those kids whose moms tried to juggle a balance?...

What do you do when kids are very attached, especially at bedtime? Share your experiences and thoughts below, we'd love to hear! :>

How To Sleep - Sofa-Style!

With the whirlwind of videos I'm producing :> :> I'm sorely behind on photos :< :< You win some, you lose some.

I wasn't feeling well tonight and feel so grateful for the amazing Mom I have. I love her so dearly and hope I can be half the woman she is.

Today, Nui Nui's latest developments are: 1) She can say A-B-C in sequence! 2) She can identify ONE finger and TWO fingers! Videos to come on that! :>

In the meanwhile, if you're looking for ways to ride or sleep on the couch, let the expert show you... :>

That's Charlie sleeping with Nui Nui. Nui Nui loves Charlie! Isn't it funny how these things happen? Charlie was mine. Not from childhood but young adulthood. Mom got her that blanket she's sleeping on— with hearts, a la Valentines Day coming up. Nui Nui will be definitely be our one and only valentine :>

What are the latest developments in your life? Comment below, we'd love to hear! :>

2012 - A Year In Growth

Nui Nui is so heavy. I said that the day she was born and still continue to say it :> Luckily, as she grows, so do my muscles. Hmph... and the doctor told me I need to go exercise... psha. :>

I haven't seen Mom hold Nui Nui to sleep for a long time though it used to be daily practice not too long ago. Not that Grandma doesn't want to hold her. In fact, it's quite the opposite. She misses napping with Nui Nui :> But now, the difficulty arises in that she clobbers Grandma :> At the rate she's growing, Nui Nui will be holding Pau Pau to sleep :> :>

ps. Ignore the quality of the photos. The people in them more than make up for the shoddy camera they were taken on. #needanewcamerabad!
