Our Typical Saturday

Bagels and Barnes :>

This is not typical but Nui Nui picked out this dress she's wearing. I asked her what she wanted to wear and she said a dress— she doesn't (or want to) wear them often— but this day she even knew exactly which one she wanted. Dressing her was simple and I love when she gets all dolled up on the weekend when we spend time together. It's not that I like my kid to be dolled up but it's fun to see her in actual nice clothes (that she can still easily play in) but aren't her actual play or everyday clothes, which are pretty worn and repetitive. Honestly, though, whatever she wears, she still emits a radiant beauty.

Our Saturdays are simple and routine, nothing fancy. As I see it, it's just a time to relax and spend time together. I just realized as I am writing this, that we often eat al fresco, which is a treat I've been taking for granted— love al fresco dining. Recently, we've been spending our mornings on project errands— looking a bathroom stuff etc. That's followed by lunch and then Barnes, where we read, run around, play on the Thomas train set, talk to Elmo the puppet adhered to a book, and build lots of different things with Duplo legos. Hopefully after hours (literally) in Barnes, Nui Nui takes a nap and we walk around, or it'll be more legos and exploring new games and apps on the iPad. Our day usually concludes with either takeout or dinner out somewhere. Cheesecake is a regular go-to.

It's not an exciting life but it's my life. And it's filled with love, laughs, and smiles, so there's really nothing to complain about.

In case you're wondering, Nui Nui built this tower all by herself as I sat mindlessly engrossed in a magazine. I looked up to my amazement. It was really over a foot taller than her— either she stood on the floor seat or pre-fabbed a stack and put it on top. Either way, she's a pretty awesome genius :>

My Workout Routine! (Yoga + Stretching) [VIDEO]

It took me over 2 years post-pregnancy to actually start working out again. I was (obviously) not in any rush to get any particular body back :> It helped/helps that there's a gym in my office building— a ton. With an already long commute, I really have no need to be on the road any longer.

Since it did take me over two years to get active again, I thought maybe I never would. I wasn't worried or concerned about it, other than my doctor telling me I should probably workout :> Working out, though, for me, is just one of those things that just feels good. It's like brushing teeth: you do it daily because you know how it's going to make you feel after— 'clean and fresh'. I may go though phases of working out and not throughout my life, maybe I sprain and ankle, for example, but I'm pretty sure I'll always go back to it.

This video is not telling you what you should do nor is it implying that I think I do what I do well, so don't take it too seriously. I sweat, my heart rate goes up, and I'm improving. That's all that matters to me and that probably should be all that matters to you in your journey of getting and maintaining your healthybutjuicy.

Equinox nails it in their slogan: IT'S NOT FITNESS. IT'S LIFE.

Enjoy!
