Baby Steps Toward Co-Enjoying One Of My Favorite Meals

After a few times eating corn on the cob, Nui Nui is mastering how to eat it. She is eager to butter it with her small, special butter knife (one of those proper, bent ones— makes me think of the kind that the british would use to butter scones :>) and she even requests some parmesan cheese. She's also picking up the cob with her hands— before she would eat it with the cob still on the plate :>

I'm happy she's also taking up at least some of my taste in food because she's liking one of my favorite dishes— mom's rack of lamb. Tender and flavorful, she loves to share a rib bone :>

I'm working on her getting to share my love of french (string) beans with me :> xoxo

My Favorite Dish, Not Nui Nui's! (But She Enjoyed It Too) :>

We were driving home from school one day last week and I ask Nui Nui to guess what we were having for dinner that night. I gave her a hint: it's my favorite dish. Her guesses? Corn, then chicken— both of her favorites :> I told her that those were her favorites and that she should guess mine. I eventually told her. We don't eat lamb that often so it's not something she'd guess off hand but when I told her, her immediate response was 'I don't like lamb'. I responded, 'Really, I looove it! Good, more for me :>' So funny.

We did end up having corn that night, which Nui Nui happily and generously helped herself to, and she also ate some of the lamb. Seeing me clean a rib bone made her want one too.

You are your child's greatest role model. Do, don't just say.

New Favorite: Bread Pudding!

I decided to try something new at one of our recent favorite cafes around our new neighborhood. Typically, I go the croissant route but today, I opted for the bread pudding.

Bread pudding is one of those things that can be really interpretive and go any which way. I wanted the kind that wasn't dry and really resembled the moist/wet characteristics that make bread pudding, actually 'pudding'. Heated up, this bread pudding is amazing. It's like a soaked bread custard, which, imho, is an accurate description of what real bread pudding should be. Eggy, soppy, and delicious it was. Nom.

Mom had the morning bun and had some bites of mine. Her response? 'I'm going to get the bread pudding next time.' :>

Mushroom And Bacon Cheese Burgers, Kid's Fried Chicken Strips At The Cheesecake Factory! :>

We ate at the Cheesecake Factory on Saturday night. One of our favorite things to order there are their burgers. Mom ordered her favorite— the mushroom burger— and I went all out and ordered a bacon cheeseburger (it came it onion rings). We skipped the usual mac-n-cheese order for Nui Nui, especially since she doesn't like their version (neither do we) and tried the chicken strips instead— pretty good actually— something I'd actually order myself if I could!

It's always a good time :> Nui Nui is such a dinner date blast! :> xo
