I finally picked up Nui Nui a pair of kid chopsticks— the kind that's held together on one end. I've been meaning to get her a pair for a while but just didn't go out of my way to do it. We had passed by a japanese dollar store, which was the perfect opportunity.
So, a few nights later, we had this dish: Pork Chop + Napa Cabbage + Noodles. It's funny because I didn't realize it until just a couple of moments ago when I was thinking about that night. We had set the table already with forks but once Nui Nui saw we were having noodles, she immediately sprung up and went to get her new chopsticks. Now that I think about it, I think I ate those noodles with chopsticks before and probably told her she could too once I got her a pair of her own, after a kind-of-failed attempt using a regular pair. The kid does not cease to amaze me with her sharp memory, cognition, and total awareness.
Tonight was notably funny because I was talking to Mom and laughing pretty hard— enough to get Nui Nui's attention and contagious enough for her to start mimicking me and join in the laughter. It didn't matter that she didn't understand what we were talking about, laughter is a universal language at any age :>
Anywho, in one of the pics below, you'll see Nui Nui sitting on my lap. She refused to start eating dinner otherwise. Talk about 'deh' [I can't think of the translation right now... but it's when a kid wants to just stay close to the parent] (not complaining) :>. Kind of a metaphor of parenthood, kind of, huh? You act as a launchpad 'til their ready to do it on their own.
